Why Art Therapy is For Everyone

Art therapy is creating art to improve mental and emotional well-being.

Art therapy can be an effective mental health treatment for individuals who have experienced depression, trauma, medical illness, and social difficulties.

The creative process required for artistic expression can assist people in problem-solving, developing and managing their behaviours and moods, lowering stress levels, and increasing self-awareness and self-esteem.

There are professionals who can work with you to delve into the underlying messages sent via your art, which will aid in the healing process, and you don't need to be creative or an artist to obtain the benefits.  In fact, anyone can benefit from art therapy.

For many people, art therapy can accomplish different things.  In the broadest sense, it can be used to soothe one's inner-self in a way that might provide the person with a greater understanding of him or herself.  It can be used for counselling by therapists, healing, treatment, rehabilitation, and psychotherapy.

Art therapy is also an activity that can be experienced one on one or as a group.

Here are some recent Participants' pieces, completed by group work and individually.

It doesn't take much to add extra meaning to the lives of the people we support, and here is an example of what shines through when you do.
